Maxine E. Eyster, 89, Watsontown

WATSONTOWN — Maxine Estella Eyster, 89, of 1265 Eighth St. Drive, passed away Friday, Jan.  25, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Union County, a daughter of the late Herbert I. and Rena V. (Smith) McCormick. On Sept. 12, 1942, in Dillon, S.C., she married Robert W. Eyster while he was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2005 after 63 years of marriage.

Maxine attended Watsontown High School, God’s Bible School, Cincinatti, Ohio and Allentown Bible College, now Houghton College. Following her college education she taught Sunday school.

Maxine, throughout her life, took a few part time jobs, but enjoyed being a wife and mother most of all.

She attended Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton.

An avid doll collector, Maxine was a member of the Susque-Hannah Doll Club and at one point owned over 500 dolls. She loved sewing and making doll clothing.

Maxine also enjoyed camping. For many years she and her husband were members of the Farnsworth Camping Club.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Dale and Joan E. Eyster, of Pfafftown, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, with whom she lived for the past four years, Rebecca S. and Harry “Frank” Bachman, of Watsontown; five grandchildren, Herb E. Eyster, Christine E. Roshto and her husband Terrance, Melissa S. Peipher and her husband Jack, Michelle G. Boop and her husband Travis and Melinda H. Bachman; and seven great-grandchildren, Blayne, Lauryn and Kyle Eyster, Nicholas and Andrew Roshto, Faith Bierly and Xandir Plotts.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Gladys Raemsch.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Wesleyan Church, 363 Stamm Road, Milton, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Arlie E. Davis, officiating.

Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
