LIVERPOOL — Richard Lee “Big Time” Sheaffer, 69, of Liverpool, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the Manor at Perry Village, New Bloomfield.
Richard was born on Dec. 13, 1943, in Harrisburg, a son of the late Jacob A. and Olive (Reich) Sheaffer. On May 23, 1964, he married the former Martha C. Linsenbach, who survives. His passing breaks a loving marital union of 49 years.
Richard retired after 14 years of service from Keystone Railway, Camp Hill. He was formerly employed with the former Central Storage, Harrisburg, and Harrisburg Truck Body.
Richard was a member of the Liverpool American Legion, Oriental Valley Sportsman’s Assoc. and Village Chapel, Donnally Mills.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and scratching off lottery tickets.
Richard especially, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to his loving wife, Richard is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and David Barnes, of Liverpool; two grandchildren, Colton and Caitlyn Barnes; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Charles Lindsay, of Selinsgrove; one sister-in-law, Alyce Sheaffer, of Liverpool; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded by two brothers, Jake E. Sheaffer Sr. and George W. Sheaffer, and one sister, Carol Ann Paden.
The family will receive friends for the viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by the funeral at 7 p.m. all from the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool. Officiating will be Pastor George P. Sheaffer.
Burial will be private.
