Ronald O. Shaffer, 78, Dalmatia

DALMATIA — Ronald O. Shaffer, 78, of Dalmatia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at his home.

He was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Elizabethville, a son of the late Mabel E. (Miller) and Raymond D. Shaffer. In 1963, he married the former Evelyn Daniel, who survives.

Ronald served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was employed as a farmer and truck driver.

Ronald was a member of Grace Community Church, Herndon, where he served on the board.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra and George Baumert, Robin Lesher, Rennee Miller and Lynnette and Michael Weikel, all of Dalmatia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell E. and Cindy Shaffer, Cyril and Sarah Shaffer and Ronald O. Jr. and Kim Shaffer, all of Dalmatia; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Carol Shaffer; and one sister, Sandy Shaffer-Mattern.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Community Church, Herndon, followed by a memorial service at 2 with the Rev. Gerald Evans officiating.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ronald’s memory may be made to Grace Community Church.
