SELINSGROVE — Carole A. Dailey, 71, of Selinsgrove, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 10, 1941, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Paul and Luella (Hendricks) Leister. On Sept. 23, 1962, in Community Fellowship Church, Oaklyn with Pastor James Nye, she married John W. “Diz” Dailey, who survives. They celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Carole was a 1959 graduate of Sunbury High School.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling to California and Florida (her favorites), and had a love for animals, nurturing injured and stray animals. She was also known for raising a variety of domestic and wild ducks.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Holly and Calvin Raker, of Sunbury, Jolynn Slaybaugh, of Selinsgrove, and Angela and Shawn Stenger, of Chambersburg; one daughter-in-law, Kamales Dailey, of Woodbridge, Va.; eight grandchildren, Bruce Heiser Jr., Angela Morgan, Christopher and Shawn Slaybaugh, Carly, Brady and Jake Stenger and Jack Dailey; two great-grandchildren, Makayla Secia and Allie Morgan; and two sisters and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Berkheiser and Dian Bauman.
She was preceded in death by one son, Commander John Paul Dailey of the Coast Guard.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m. Saturday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Mark Gittens of H2Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
