Joyce L. Shoop, 48, Danvillle

DANVILLE — Joyce L. Shoop, 48, of 1308 Red Lane, passed from this life to life eternal on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1964, in Chardon, Ohio, a daughter of Lou Ellen Carpenter Cuccia of Northumberland, and the late Harold W. Lesher. She was also predeceased by her stepfather, Lucas “Papa Luke” Cuccia.

She was a Lewistown School of Nursing LPN graduate.

Joyce was an extraordinary and strong woman who impacted the lives of many. She cared deeply for her husband and her family while being a devoted mother, nurse and homemaker. Joyce endured numerous physical challenges throughout her life, yet maintained a positive attitude and was an inspiration to all who met her.

She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church Danville.

Joyce was a member of the Class of  1982 from Danville Area High School.

She was also involved with Danville Challenger Baseball, a branch of Little League Baseball that serves special needs children.

Joyce loved entertaining and travel, especially to the beach.  She enjoyed doing crafts, playing iPad games and watching TV shows.  She loved to attend auctions and yard sales. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and friends whom she adored.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 20 years, Brian E. Shoop, whom she married July 11, 1992. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda L. Shoop and her partner Julio Solorazno, and Samantha D. L. Shoop, both of Danville; two sons, Jon E. Shoop and Collin M. Shoop, both of Danville; three grandchildren, Dylan J. Slusser, Isabella M. Shoop, and Angel L.G. Rodas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steven A. and Terri Lesher, of Blanco, Texas, and Bruce W. and Suzanne Lesher, of Danville; and one sister; Charlene F. Runkle, of Turbotville. She is also survived by many whom she took under her wing and who called her “Mom.”

Friends will be received from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 306 Lombard Ave., Danville, followed by a Celebration of Joyce’s Life at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Reverend Ronald S. French will be officiating.

Burial will be private in the Memorial Garden of the church.

The family will provide flowers.

At Joyce’s request, memorial contributions may be made to Danville Challenger Baseball 121 Indian Run Road, Danville, PA 17821.
