DeLEON SPRINGS, Fla. — Larry Richard Witmer Sr., 69, of DeLeon Springs, formerly of Middleburg, Pa., passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012.
Larry was born in Dover, Pa., the son of the late Oscar and Sara Witmer.
He dedicated his life’s work as an over-the-road truck driver for several companies such as Trans Con Freight Lines and Glen Di.
He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Deland Eagles and the Teamsters Union in Pennsylvania and at the time of his passing a Sons of the American Legion member of Post 6.
Larry was a clean, compassionate man who enjoyed fishing with his friends, NASCAR, dog and horse races, cooking for the American Legion and spending time with his family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 32 years, Shirley Knouse Witmer; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Denise Yeger, Arden and Myrtle Yerger, Timothy Yerger and Larry Jr. and Patti Witmer; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne and Randy Kratzer, Shari and Rusty Steinmertz and Peggy and Robert Perkins; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his special pooch, Heidi; and a large loving extension of family and friends.
A memorial service in his honor will be held at a later date in Middleburg.
