WATSONTOWN — Ella S. Williams, 96, of Pennsylvania Avenue, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at her home.
She was born Sept. 29, 1916, in Lewis Township, a daughter of the late Ralph O. and Grace E. (Snyder) Rovenolt. On March 22, 1939, she married Harold H. “Hall” Williams, and they celebrated 67 years of marriage before his death Nov. 25, 2006.
Ella was a 1935 graduate of the former Turbotville High School and retired in 1978 from the Warrior Run School District, where she had worked in the cafeteria.
Ella was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Northumberland, a member and past worthy matron of Watsontown Chapter 282, Order of Eastern Star, the McEwensville Garden Club, the Watsontown Guild and the Warrior Run Fort Freeland Heritage Society.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard T. and Joyce Williams, of Port Jervis, N.Y.; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Williams, of Watsontown; one brother, Lewis Rovenolt; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Roger H. Williams, on Nov. 16, 2009; one daughter, Kay L. Howe, on Jan. 19, 1982; two brothers, Glenn and Robert Rovenolt; and one sister, Edna Foust.
In keeping with Ella’s wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2294 Ridge Road, Northumberland, with Bishop J.B. Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the Montgomery House Library, P.O. Box 5, McEwensville, PA 17749.
