MIDDLEBURG — Arlene M. Loss, 68, of Troxelville Road, passed away at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at her home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1944, in Lewistown, a daughter of the late Lewis E. and P. Regina (Bassler) Meiser. On June 26, 1966, she married Robert W. Loss who survives.
She was a 1963 graduate of Middleburg High School.
Arlene had been employed by Walnut Acres, Penns Creek, and Blough and Wagner Mfg., Middleburg.
She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Middleburg, and the Cheerful Givers Sunday school class. She had served on the Centre Township board of elections and was a former member of the Penns Creek Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Earlier in her life she had been a den mother for Troop 3476 Cub Scouts in Penns Creek.
Arlene enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and knitting. She had a green thumb when it came to raising African Violets. She collected peanut butter glasses, cat memorabilia and enjoyed all the cats on the farm.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Luke L. Loss, of Middleburg; one daughter, Mary A. Buchanan, of Penns Creek; three grandchildren, Rebekah and Earl Loss, and William Buchanan; her twin sister, Marlene Hackenberg and husband Kenneth, of Kreamer; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, David and Cathy Meiser and Glenn and Cass Meiser, all of Middleburg, Helen Meiser and Orpha Meiser, both of Mount Pleasant Mills.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Lewis Meiser Jr.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church, Middleburg with Pastor Bob Klingerman officiating.
Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
