NORTHUMBERLAND — Gerald R. Young, 79, formerly of Northumberland, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Manor Care, Sunbury.
He was born Sept. 18, 1933, in Northumberland, a son of the late Elmer and Eva (Marks) Young.
Gerald was a graduate of Northumberland High School.
He retired as a sergeant from the Air Force after 20 years of service.
He was a member of St. Monica Church, Sunbury, and a former member of the Northumberland Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Gerald enjoyed golf, woodworking and reading.
He is survived by one son, Edward F. Young, of Northumberland; two brothers, Richard Young, of Selinsgrove, and William Young, of Tennessee; two sisters, Esther Lehman and Kay Wheeler, both of Georgia; and his former wife, Juanita V. Young, of Northumberland.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Shay.
A graveside service will be conducted at a later date in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
Funeral arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 309 Water St., Northumberland.
