Jean R. Fisher, 77, Lewisburg

LEWISBURG — Jean R. Fisher, 77, of 100 Market St., passed away on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2012, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, surrounded by her family.

A native of Union County, she was born Aug. 9, 1935, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Raymond C. and Gladys Marie (Ocker) Leonard. On Dec. 30, 1953, in Hagerstown, Md., she married Charles E. Fisher Jr., and her death breaks a marital union of almost 60 years.

Jean was a 1953 graduate of Lewisburg High School. She had played softball with the Linntown Lassies as a pitcher with four no-hitters. She enjoyed the Phillies and Penn State sports.

Jean was a first class lady with a very strong personality and a desire to succeed. She had been employed as office manager at JPM, was secretary tresurer and vice president of Fisher Landscaping and later co-owned and operated the Towne Tavern for more than 40 years until her retirement in 1998.

Jean enjoyed her family and grandchildren and spent every day with her husband of 59 years. She had a love for the outdoors whether it be boating, hunting, spending time at her cabin or at the ocean with her family. She loved gardening and entertaining and cooking especially holiday family dinners. Jean also loved to ride and raise horses and watch her children and grandchildren ride.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children and their spouses, Charles E. III and Vicki Fisher, Brady and Kristen Fisher, and Andrew and Wendy Fisher, all of Lewisburg, and Sara J. and Dean Hollenbach, of West Milton; 10 grandchildren, Morgan E. Fisher, Michael C. Fisher, Olivia K. Fisher, Kalyn M. Fisher, Jaclyn N. Fisher, Brendan M. Fisher, Stone J. Hollenbach, Dean J. Hollenbach, Cody A. Fisher, and Brooke A. Fisher; one great-grandson, Adam Orien Bauman; one sister and brother-in-law, Carole E. and Gerald Wenner, of Newberry, Ohio; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Nancy Fisher, of Royersford; three nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, with the Rev. John H. Shaw III, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and asks that donation’s in Jean’s memory be made to the Lewisburg Dragon Sports Boosters, Box 550, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or to the Green Dragon Foundation, 115 Farley Circle, Suite 306, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
