Adah L. Aunkst, 90, Dewart

DEWART — Adah L. Aunkst, 90, of Dewart, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Milton.

Born Feb. 15, 1922, in Liberty Township, she was a daughter of the late Stanley W. and Pearl A. (Speck) Hilkert. She was the widow of William E. Aunkst, who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1993.

Adah was a homemaker. Earlier in life, she worked at the former Milton Shoe Factory and at Montgomery Mills.

She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and her video games.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. Geiswhite and Shirley McCarty, of New Columbia, and Dale K. Aunkst, of Dewart; two daughters, Gloria A. Diggan, of Milton, and Barbara J. Aunkst and Byron Potter, of Muncy; one brother and sister-in-law, Gerald L. and Alice Hilkert, of Muncy; one sister and brother-in-law, Anna Marie and John Murray, of Muncy; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two brothers, Harold D. and Donald R. Hilkert.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Delaware Run Cemetery, Delaware Township, with the Rev. John E. Lee officiating.

The family suggests contributions in Adah’s memory be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown.
