Howard Schwartz, 87, Danville

— DANVILLE — Howard Schwartz, 87, of 35 Oak Grove Road, passed away on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at his son’s residence.

He was born Aug. 26, 1924, in the Bronx, a son of the late Julius and Elsie (Kaisler) Schwartz.

Howard was a graduate of Columbia University and received his masters in engineering at Pennsylvania State University. After his graduation, he was an officer in the Navy during World War II.

Following his discharge, Howard worked as a nuclear engineer and later was an entrepreneur in the bio-medical field. Howard was an intelligent and kind soul whose most important priorities in life were love and family. He was an inspiration to many to be their best and he will be remembered in their hearts and actions forever.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jan and Elaine Schwartz, of Danville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and David Schnapf, of California, and Lisa Schwartz Powell and Doug Powell, of Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Eben, Kate, Sarah, Isaac, Mollie, David, Zev and Maya; and two great-grandchildren, Margot and Asa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved soul mate in 2009, the former Harriet G. Adler.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville with Rabbi Shaul Rappeport of Ohev Sholom Synagogue in Williamsport presiding.

The burial will follow at Beth El Cemetery, Nothumberland.
