MILTON — For the past several years, select students in grades three through eight at Meadowbrook Christian School have participated in the ACSI District Geography Bee with other Christian schools from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia. When this year’s District Geography Bee was canceled, Meadowbrook’s librarian and geography bee adviser, Miriam Miller, decided to host a geography bee within the school to enable all of the students to experience the fun of participating in such an event, and also to help promote an interest in learning about our world. Students in grades three through five participated in grade level bees where each class competed on its own. Those who finished in the top three places within their class received gift cards for the school cafeteria. Students in grades six through eight also participated in grade level bees with the same rewards, however, the finalists in these grades also moved on to a final championship round featuring all of the finalists from grades six through eight.
Sixth grader Grace Ann Deitrick won the final competition against fellow sixth-eighth graders. Sixth grader Abby Terwilliger placed second, and eighth grader KC Mabus finished third.
