Milton Public Library's Annual Gala is March 15

— MILTON — The Milton Public Library is hoping to raise some money by inviting guests to dance the night away at the library’s Annual Gala in March.

The event — which will be held March 15 at The Wynding Brook Golf Club — is not only a fundraiser for the group, but a way for the community to celebrate the spirit of the library, said director Sue Williams.

“It’s a celebration of the library and what we’ve achieved throughout the year,” she said.

While the fundraiser has no specific goal, Williams would love to see the event raise $5,000 for the library.

The money from the gala goes toward supporting the library’s numerous programs and continuing projects, such as its capital campaign, started in 2011 as part of the library’s acquisition and renovations to its news Rose Hill location, Williams said.

“We would like to do renovations to the carriage house,” she said. “We want to do upgrades there to offer things such as a healthy eating cooking series.”

The library’s goals for the next year also include further public outreach to reach all of the people that the library serves.

“We service East and West Chillisquaque and Turbot townships (as well as Milton) so we want to participate in more events in those areas,” she said. “We just want to be getting out to the public more, instead of sitting and waiting for them to come to us.”

The library is also planning more outdoor events on the library’s six-acre grounds, Williams said.

“We want to get a public awareness of what we have,” she said. “We want to use the grounds and get people outside.”
