MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Intermediate School’s ASPIRE program, which is sponsored by the Mifflinburg Kiwanis, has revealed the recipients for the month of October. The students in third, fourth and fifth grade are recognized by their homeroom teachers for being positive role models and displaying anti-bullying traits such as kindess, responsiblity, acceptance of all, respecting differences, etc. Scott Zimmerman and the Kiwanis will be presenting certificates and cash awards to these students at the May end-of-the year assembly.
Tawnya Shrawder, in Mr. Hummel’s third grade class, is the daughter of Bud and Brenda Shrawder. Her favorite class is gym and she enjoys playing basketball and hanging out with her friends. She cheers for the Steelers midget football team and belongs to the Girl Scouts. She hopes to someday become a teacher.
In Mrs. Warren’s fourth grade class, Abilgail Grebb is being recognized. She is the daughter of Eric and Suzanne Grebb and her favorite class is music. She is an active soccer player and hopes to become a doctor.
Ashely Haberman, a student in Mrs. Miller’s fifth grade, is the daughter of Jay O’Hora and Lisa Haberman. Her favorite class is gym and she plays soccer and volleyball and enjoys hanging out with her friends. Her dream is to become a professional soccer player.
In Mrs. Hoy’s fifth grade, Isaac Jenkins was cited as a model student. He is the son of Craig and Faith Jenkins and his favorite classes are gym and library. He enjoys fishing and trapping and is a member of “Waffles Wednesday”. He hopes to become an exterminator.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to “changing the world “one child and one community at a time.” This organization supports the local schools, the community and tries to improve conditions for children worldwide.
