MIFFLINBURG — The 2013 PA Lamb & Wool Queen Contest was held Oct. 22 at the Samuel E. Hayes Jr. PA Livestock Evaluation Center, Pennsylvania Furnace. There were five contestants from across the state vying for the title. Contestants were evaluated by a panel of judges on a written essay, personal interview, and their public speaking skills.
Catrina Bollinger was selected as the 2013 PA Lamb & Wool Princess. Catrina is the 17-year-old daughter of Craig and Crystal Bollinger, of Mifflinburg. She attends Mifflinburg Area Senior High School where she serves as a student advisor in the Mifflinburg FFA Chapter. Catrina has a Miniature Babydoll Southdown and is president of both the Cowan Ag 4-H Club and Valley Riders 4-H Club. She is active in Key Club, church youth group, donates to Walk on Foundation, collects eye glasses for reuse, Mifflinburg Borough recycling, AQHA member, and APHA member.
The PA Lamb & Wool Queen program is sponsored by the PA Sheep & Wool Growers Association. The PA Lamb & Wool Royal Court will be asked to attend several industry related events throughout their reign. Family and fans remember Davy Jones in his beloved Beavertown
Davy Jones' daughters Talia, Annabel, Jessica, and Sarah, along with their children, pose with the newly unveiled statue of Davy Jones on Saturday afternoon in Beavertown.
BEAVERTOWN — First, Beavertown officials and friends of the late Monkee Davy Jones commissioned a statue, but had no permanent location to display it. Then, fans complained that an 11-foot statue placing the 5-foot, 3-inch singer on a pedestal was too tall, so Altoona sculptor Chuck LaMark scaled it down.
