VICKSBURG – Whether you're a senior in high school or a senior looking to go back to school, there are four $1,000 scholarships for Lewisburg and Mifflinburg students available from the Vicksburg Community Hall Association, the group announced Tuesday.
Aside of living in either of those boroughs, there are no restrictions on applicants for age, race, gender or area of study, said Jamie Wagner, representing the group. "It's perfect for those looking to continue their education or make a career change," she said.
Applicants for the 2013 awards must write an essay, no more than 500 words, detailing the candidates’' community volunteerism. Other important information includes scholastic activities, community groups, accomplishments and achievements, and goals and aspirations, but Wagner noted “we really want to hear about your volunteering.”
The essay must be in English and typed, double spaced in 12-point font on one side of paper (not on both sides). If applicable, include your most recent school transcripts.

- Education information, name and address of institution, expected graduation date.
Applications should have a postmark no later than April 15.
The trustees and members of the Vicksburg Community Association will reply to successful applicants by May 10. Scholarships will be distributed by August 1.
