LEWISBURG — The SUN Area Chapter of the American Red Cross has extended its deadline to receive nominations for the upcoming Heroes Breakfast in March. Members of the public, organizations and others with an interest in honoring a person who contributes to and enhances quality of life for the community by their actions, are welcome and encouraged to send in a nomination by Feb. 14.
“We often have to extend the deadline for this event,” said Annie Smith, communications director for the chapter. “Folks just need a bit more time to write about their heroes or persuade them to even accept a nomination. It’s the nature of the event,” she added.
Categories for nominations include, Adult Good Samaritan, Youth Good Samaritan, Fire/Public Safety, Law Enforcement, Medical, Military, Animal Rescue and Community Impact. The Heroes Breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m. March 22 at Country Cupboard restaurant in Lewisburg. It is open to the public and tickets, which are $15, must be purchased in advance by calling the chapter in advance at 524-0400 ext. 1602.
A nomination form can be acquired by calling the chapter or visiting these web links: http://www.redcross.org/news/event/SUN-Area-Heroes-Breakfast or http://wkok.info/areahappenings/herosbreakfast/
