COAL TOWNSHIP —
Milton (4-2, 2-1 HAC-I) overcame six fumbles — three that were lost, including a questionable one at the goal line in the second quarter — an end zone interception, and several penalties, in a 14-7 victory on Friday night at Shamokin in a rematch of last year's District 4 Class AAA title game.
Shamokin, which stopped Milton 1 yard shy of a district-winning TD a year ago, fumbled six times and lost four, three in the first half.
Jayson English and Jarred Fogelman each ran for a touchdown for the Black Panthers, combining for 144 yards on the ground.
Shamokin's lone score came when linebacker Erik Taylor took a Milton fumble 38 yards to the end zone to make it 7-all with 35.7 seconds left in the half. The teams combined for nine first-half fumbles, 12 overall.
