LEWISBURG — The Bucknell University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a First Step pre-business workshop Thursday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at the SBDC Business Education Center, Room 308 of the DeWitt Building at 416 Market Street in Lewisburg.
Topics to be covered include: how to assess the feasibility of a business idea, differences among business organization structures, how to develop a business plan, how to obtain financing, the applications and licenses needed to start a company, how to market a product or service, and other resources to help with business planning.
Maureen Hauck, assistant director for business consulting with the Bucknell SBDC, will lead the workshop. With the Bucknell SBDC since March 2000, Hauck has more than 20 years of business experience including retail management, marketing, advertising, salesmanship, and personnel management. She holds her degrees in business administration and secondary education from Bloomsburg University.
After attending a First Step Workshop, participants can meet with an SBDC business consultant for free and confidential business consulting.

Future First Step workshops will be held throughout the year. The series continues April 3 at Brush Valley Chamber of Commerce in Shamokin; May 15 at Service 1st Credit Union in Danville; Aug. 28 at the SBDC Business Education Center; Sept. 30 at Service 1st Credit Union in Danville; and Nov. 6 at Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce in Shamokin Dam.

Budget cuts won't slow down school tech
