DALMATIA —
Jim Keiser decided while breaking down film Sunday that Danville would open its game against Montoursville with an onside kick. He had the better part of a week to change his mind, though that became more difficult after he told his Ironmen the plan early in the practice week.
Not only did Danville recover the kick, it scored three plays later. After a defensive stop and a touchdown bomb the game was just four minutes old but it seemed all but over.
Danville posted a 21-7 win which wasn’t that close, and pocketed a bundle of playoff points toward its seed in the District 4 Class AA playoffs.
Cale Rice pounced on the onside kick’s friendly bounce. Sam Dressler ran three times for 43 yards and a touchdown. And Bret Berg hauled in a Weston Baylor play-action pass for a 65-yard score and a 14-0 lead with 7:48 left in the first quarter.
The Ironmen (6-1) led 21-0 at halftime, and then bled the fourth-quarter clock with two drives after Montoursville (4-3) threatened to make it a game.

Budget cuts won't slow down school tech
A cut of approximately $30,000 to the school district’s technology budget shouldn’t do much to slow down Danville, according to their network administrations director.
“We have a year-to-year refresh cycle for our technology, and we’re going to continue with that, we’re just going to reduce the amount,” said Jeff Ryan.
