BEAVERTOWN — Twenty-two young people and five sponsors from Beavertown God’s Missionary Church loaded up on a 32-passenger coach and embarked on an eight-day mission experience to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in Mission, S.D., on July 12.

Pastor Matt Maloyed said once there, the young people set about to repair the mission facilities that had been closed for nearly seven years.

He said throughout the week, the youth were very industrious and were able to complete several projects such as: organizing/cleaning the church basement, insulating and sheeting two storage rooms, painting the interior and exterior of the church, building and installing an interior and exterior cross, landscaping, putting in a parking lot, constructing a church sign, installing new windows and a new front doors, inviting new people to church and helping conduct a children’s service on Sunday morning.

“It was an exciting eight days packed full of hard work and treasured memories. God truly blessed,” Maloyed said.

The missionaries Keith and Tasbah Lavery, were very grateful for all that was accomplished, and presented the group with a star quilt which is the Lakota Indian way of honoring someone.
