LEWISBURG - "My Hometown" received this note from Andrea Tufo of the Danonald L. Heiter Community Center in Lewisburg.
Dear Friends,
The gardens at the Donald Heiter Community Center are in need of attention. They are somewhat overgrown and need to be weeded and to have the trash removed from them. Although ideally having the children participate in this process would be great it simply isn't feasible at this time. Could you please help us recruit a volunteer or two that might be interested in helping us to Maintain and "Winterize" our gardens. In the past Jane Amacher or I have done this or we have solicited a volunteer group to do the work however the gardens really do require some gardening knowledge and needs more then sporadic attention and I don't want to depend on Jane for this since she works so hard on her beautiful gardens at home. Please have any perspective volunteers contact the Center and speak to Billie or Jon. I think the initial work will take a few-few hour days but after that maybe a couple hours every week or so. The work can be done on weekends or during the week so hours are flexible.
