BOYS BASKETBALL
BELLEVILLE -- The East Juniata boys basketball program has been in existence since the school opened in 1955, but the 2012 team accomplished what no other could.
On Saturday East Juniata crushed Belleville Mennonite in a nonleague contest 62-34 and in doing so the Tigers set the school record by winning their 17th game of the season.
Nick Lorenz and Dylan Leonard both knocked down four 3-pointers to finish with 17 and 14 points, respectively, for East Juniata (17-4), which can build upon its mark with a win at Juniata on Monday in the season finale for the Tigers before they head into the District 4 playoffs.
Lewisburg 70, Warrior Run 51
TURBOTVILLE -- The Green Dragons' John Vaji picked up his 200th career victory as four of his players scored in double figures in the HAC-II win over the Defenders.
Mike Driscoll led the way with 18 points for Lewisburg (16-4, 10-3), while Marcus Meslener added 16 points and 12 rebounds, plus Travis Conrad had 13 points and four assists for the Green Dragons.
Zach Mathna had 14 points to lead Warrior Run (6-15, 1-12).
Mifflinburg 58, Shamokin 47
MIFFLINBURG -- Dustin Botts made seven field goals and finished with 19 points to help lead the Wildcats to the Heartland Athletic Conference Division I win.
Connor Pierce led Mifflinburg (8-12, 6-6 HAC-I) with 24 points, which included a 16-of-19 effort from the stripe. Alex Vidunas had seven rebounds.
Kieran Kelley and Devon Craft both scored 11 for Shamokin (10-11 overall).
Southern Columbia 66, Central Columbia 37
ALMEDIA -- Casey Savitski scored 27 points and Brad Fegley had 24 to lead the Tigers.
Southern (14-5, 11-2 HAC-II) has two games remaining on the season, including a road game at Montoursville. A win and the Tigers clinch the Heartland Division II title.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Line Mountain 58, Williams Valley 30
HEGINS -- The Eagles took the nonleague win and remained undefeated on the season thanks to a fast start and three players scoring in double figures.
Mikhail Whitcomb led Line Mountain (22-0) with 17 points, while Jade London added 10 points and six assists for the Eagles.
Lewisburg 61, Bellefonte 47
BELLEFONTE -- Maria Kelleher scored a game-high 25 points and Lois Lesher pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Green Dragons to the nonleague win and a berth in the District 4 playoffs. Chelsea Boyer added 13 points for Lewisburg (11-9).
WRESTLING
Danville 46, GAR 36
DANVILLE -- The Ironmen spotted the Grenadiers an 18-0 lead (two pins and a forfeit), but rallied with the help of pins from Stephen Rosini (132 pounds) and Tom Moyer (145), along with four forfeit wins in the nonleague win.
Danville (8-9) also got a major decision from Addison Zakarian (126).
BOYS BOWLING
Milton 4, Midd-West 0
SELINSGROVE -- The Black Panthers had their arsenal on full display as they beat the Mustangs by more than 300 pins in the HAC matchup.
Mark Artley led Milton (26-2) with a 703 series that included a 288 high game, while Cody Stahl had a 278 game and a 669 series.
Midd-West (19-13) was led by Luke Zimmerman's 265 game and a 650 series.
Shikellamy 4, Danville 0
SUNBURY -- Behind a 738 series from Andrew Fister (224-247-267) the Braves rolled past the Ironmen. Brant Houghton, Noah Thomas and Matt Botts all had a 600-plus series for Shikellamy (24-4).
GIRLS BOWLING
Milton 4, Midd-West 0
SELINSGROVE -- Jenna Yarger's 602 series wasn't enough as the Mustangs fell to the Black Panthers in an HAC matchup.
Brittany Badman and Megan Sherman both had a 500 series for Milton (23-5). Cheyenne Ruble added a 512 series for Midd-West (15-17).
Shikellamy 4, Danville 0
SUNBURY -- After a 1003 in the first team game, the Braves totaled almost 3,000 pins to cruise to the HAC victory. McKensie Haines led Shikellamy (27-1) with a 680 series (246-214-220).
