SUNBURY — The Susquehanna Art Society invites all artists in the Valley to participate in the annual Society Art Show. Membership in the Society is not a requirement.
Three ability level classifications are available for entries: Student/Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Within each level the categories are: Watercolor, Oil, Acrylic, Pastels, Mixed media, Graphic design, Photography and Sculpture.
First, second and honorable mention awards will be made each level category represented. Two popular choice awards, determined by viewers’ votes, will be made at the show’s closing. Monetary awards in all categories represented will be made at an artists’ reception on July 31, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Artwork will be displayed at the Degenstein Library Community Room, 40 S. Fifth St.
The judge is Medford Smith, of New Freedom, a graduate of York Academy of Arts. His work includes landscapes and still life using pastel, acrylic and oil mediums.
The entry fee is $5 per item up to three pieces. Works to be hung must be dry, suitably framed, with no brackets or exposed glass edges, and with wires, ready for display, and not measuring more than sixty inches in any direction. Pedestals or other suitable bases or methods of display of free standing works must be supplied by the artist. Decisions of appropriateness will be at the discretion of the S.A.S. committee.
Artwork will be accepted July 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and July 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Degenstein Library Community Room.
