Well, OK. This is one of those weeks when I’m trying to do two weeks-worth of stuff in one week, so bear with me. With Thanksgiving coming up next Thursday, I thought I ought to get some things out there for advance planning.
I’ll keep you in suspense, though, until I get through what’s happening this week.
Tonight, chanteuse Ann Kerstetter is trying out yet another permutation of her talent at the Selins Grove Brewing Co. on Market Street, Selinsgrove, with “Blues Machine and other functions.” This one is Ann with guitarist Mark Tomeo doing blues, standards and ballads from 7-10 p.m. Ann calls it a “hodge-podge of genres,” but it will be good, I’m sure.
A new open mike is taking place on Thursday nights from 7-9 p.m. at The Daily Grind, Route 45 in Vicksburg, hosted by Richard Grace of Celtica and Annie Clark.
Also tonight, the Burgess-Mitchell-Seal Trio will be at La Fontana, 105 W. Main St., Bloomsburg, from 6-9 p.m. 245-0057 for reservations.

They tell me the EVE Jazz Trio, which is at BJ’s in Selingrove on Friday night from 6-9, is really packing them in. And well they should with the talent in that group. I haven’t heard them, but I plan to try them out soon. They’re in the big back room with “dinner jazz” selections. Call 374-9841 for reservations.
If you like classic rock, check out RuKat Friday night at McGuigan’s Public House on Market Street in Sunbury from 6-8 p.m.

Lots of things are happening on Saturday night. First off, the Countryside Contra Dance steps off from 7:30-10:30 at the Donald L. Heiter Community Center, 100 N. Fifth St., Lewisburg, with live music by Henry Koretsky, Don Krech and Brian Lockman, with the dances called by Ted Crane. $8 admission.
Also in Lewisburg, the sixth annual Blue Butterfly Fund’s blues night fundraiser is at the Lewisburg Hotel from 7-11 p.m. Music by Tom Patten’s Usual Suspects Reduction Band and the Skeeter Kinney Blues Band. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Meanwhile, across the river in Watsontown, Partners in Time, a four-piece bluegrass band, is performing at First Presbyterian Church, 401 Main St., from 7-9 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken.
Later in the evening, Triple Dose is at Ye Olde Meeting Place, on Route 405 between Watsontown and Milton, starting around 9:30. Fiddler woman Beverley Conrad and piano man Greg Burgess are at Penn’s Tavern, Route 147 south of Sunbury, from 6-9 p.m. 286-2007 for reservations there.

Sunday evening, the wonderful singer E.G. Kight will be at Jeremiah’s, the music listening room above the Bullfrog Brewery on Fourth Street in Williamsport, for a 7:30 show. Cover is $15, and it’s worth every penny.

The Burgess-Mitchell-Seal Trio is at Puirseil’s Irish Pub, 15 S. Sixth St., Lewisburg, on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. with the best in jazz and standards. Call 523-6000 for reservations. J.L. MacKnair will be at McGuigan’s, on Market St. Sunbury, next Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

Now, for the things next week. On Thanksgiving evening — that’s right, next Thursday — Poptart Monkeys will perform at McGuigan’s Public House in Sunbury with an early start at 7 p.m.

And next Saturday, the horns come out in Lewisburg. Into the Spin, an eight-piece dance band featuring horns and a female vocalist, debuts at the Lewisburg Club for a 9-midnight show. The band, featuring well-known local musicians Andy Seal and Jeremy Hummel, does ’60s and ’70s dance music including such hits as “Rescue Me,” “25 or 6 to 4,” “Lady Marmalade” and “Can’t Hurry Love.” With horns! $10 cover. Don’t miss this one.
