St. Patrick’s Day is next Wednesday, and several area venues have special events including music lined up for the day. McGuigan’s Public House, 266 Market St., Sunbury, features Sunbury’s singing mailman, Jim McClinsy, ta lunchtime from 11:30-1:30, and Will Kradlak and the MacAlum Band will be there in the evening at 6 p.m.
The Lowlander Highlanders, augmented this evening only by Greg Burgess on piano, will be at BJ’s on Market Street in Selinsgrove at 7 p.m.
And adding to the fun at Front Street Station in Northumberland, MacAlum Band will stop by at 8 p.m.
Old Forge Brewing Co. on Mill Street in Danville has a real Irish thing going on all week, with special Irish offerings on the menu. Barby Holder will entertain on St. Patrick’s Day form 6-9, with Lux Bridge in the house on the 18th from 7-10, and Celtica will perform from 7-9 on the 19th.

Now, this week’s music includes Tim Farley of Panacea at Old Forge Brewing Co. on Mill Street in Danville, tonight from 7-10 p.m. The King Street Coffeehouse at the Savoy in Northumberland is open Friday night. Averie Clark and Don Krech will lead off, with Steve Quelet to follow and Full Circle to finish off the night. As usual, the dinner buffet is available at 6 p.m., and the cover charge for the 7 p.m. music is $6.

The Local Music Collective’s monthly jam is at Page After Page Bookstore, Route 45 in Vicksburg, at 7 p.m. on Saturday. If you play an acoustic instrument and want to hang out with folks who will listen and encourage you, drop by and see what this is all about.

Returning to the St. Patrick’s Day theme, on Saturday night, you can have a Night in Ireland at Front Street Station in Northumberland. Featured are performances by students from the Moyer Institute of Dance step dancers, the youth fiddling contest, and performances by two of the area’s top Celtic groups, Lux Bridge and Celtica. The show is from 7-11 p.m. Call Front Street Station at 473-3626 for more information and reservations.

And don’t forget the Beatles Fest at the Clinton Township Fire Company in Montgomery on Saturday night. Featured is Beatles tribute band Abbey Road, the well-remembered Rubber Soul Band, back again with the helter Skelter Horns, the Uptown Music collective and Montgomery High School’s jazz ensemble, the Banditz. All this for just five bucks! Doors open at 6 and the music starts at 7.

Other music on Saturday night includes the Original Sinners at Puirseil’s Irish Pub on Sixth Street in Lewisburg from 7-9, with their own repertoire of folk, Celtic and country tunes, and Dirty Nickels will be at Ye Olde Meeting Place on Route 405 north of Milton at 9:30.

American Legion Post 44 in Northumberland features Spike Stamm and Smooth Country from 7-10 on Saturday. $6 cover. Over in Coal Township, at Nos Trovia, 336 Maple St., Ann Kerstetter and the All Star Band of Cronies will be rockin’ the house from 7-10 p.m. Call 274-2864 for details.

Sunday afternoon, Chris Whitmer hosts the Second Sunday Jam at the Selins Grove Brewing Co. from 2-4-ish. And Chicken tractor, a cool country band from Centre County makes its debut at Skeeter’s BBQ in Shamokin Dam, playing from 5-8 p.m.

Winery music this weekend includes PA Crude Blues band at Spyglass Ridge in Sunbury from 2-5 on Saturday, with two shows on Sunday. Lux Bridge plays at 1 p.m. and MacAlum Band is on at 3. At Shade Mountain Winery, Middleburg, Kimbo plays Saturday and the Lowlander Highlanders are on Sunday. Hunters valley Winery in Liverpool features the Harp Sisters on Saturday from 3-5.
