LEWISBURG — Rappers KiD CuDi and Jay Sean will perform at 8 p.m. April 9 in the Sojka Pavilion on the campus of Bucknell University.
An American rapper, singer and actor, KiD CuDi first gained major attention after the release of his debut mixtape “A Kid Named CuDi.”
In 2009, his single “Day ‘n’ Nite” reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B;/Hip-Hop Songs charts. He has also worked with Lady Gaga and Kanye West.
CuDi was featured on Kanye West’s 2008 album, “808s & Heartbreak,” singing with West on the track “Welcome to Heartbreak,” and helping with songwriting on “Heartless” and “Paranoid.” “Welcome to Heartbreak” peaked at No. 87 on the Pop 100. He was tipped as an artist to watch for in media such as Rolling Stone, Vibe, The Source, XXL and BBC News’s Sound of 2009 poll of up-and-coming acts.
His first television appearance was at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, followed by appearances on Snoop Dogg’s MTV talk show and BET as well as “The Late Show with David Letterman” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Jay Sean is a British singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer. He debuted in the Asian underground scene as a member of the Rishi Rich Project with “Dance with You,” which reached No. 12 on the U.K. Singles Chart in 2003. After being signed to Virgin Records, he had two U.K. top 10 hits as a solo artist in 2004: “Eyes On You” at No. 6 and “Stolen” at No. 4. They were included in his critically acclaimed debut album “Me Against Myself,” which sold more than two million copies across Asia.
In 2009, his American debut single “Down” topped the Billboard Hot 100. It was the seventh-best-selling song of 2009, having sold more than 3 million digital copies in the United States, and 6 million copies worldwide.
It was followed by another hit, “Do You Remember,” which has sold more than a million copies in the U.S. and entered the top 10 on the Hot 100. They were included in his American-debut album “All or Nothing,” which debuted at No. 37 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
