Nelly to perform April 13 at Bucknell University; Tickets go on sale Thursday

LEWISBURG — Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist Nelly will perform in concert at Bucknell University at 8 p.m. April 13.

Tickets went on sale today for Bucknell students. The general public may purchase tickets beginning at noon Thurssday for $30 per person.

Advance tickets for the general public will be available via the campus box office or by calling 570-577-1000 beginning at noon on Thursday.

Tickets will be available in person at the CAPS Center Box Office located on the ground floor of the Elaine Langone Center weekdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; at the Campus Box Office in the Weis Center lobby weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and at the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University bookstore, located on Market Street in Lewisburg, weekdays and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Nelly has performed with the rap group St. Lunatics since 1993 and began his solo career in 2000 with his debut album, "Country Grammar," the title track of which was a top 10 hit. It is Nelly's best-selling album to date, selling over 8.4 million copies in the United States.

He won Grammy Awards in 2003 and 2004 and had a supporting role in the 2005 remake film "The Longest Yard" with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. Called "one of the biggest stars of the new millennium" by Peter Shapiro, he was named the number three Top Artist of the Decade by Billboard in 2009.

The opening act is the Brooklyn-based hop-hop mash-up duo Timeflies. Using elements of pop, hip-hop, electro, dub step, and rock, Timeflies aims to escape genre limitations to create expressive music.
