ELIZABETHVILLE — Austin A. Weaver ran the ball in from three yards out on a two-point conversion to cap a dramatic win for Upper Dauphin over Newport, 22-21, on Friday night at Trojan Stadium.
Newport (2-5) took a seven-point lead after the teams had ended regulation tied at 14. On the Trojans’ (2-5) possession, Weaver called his own number from the seven-yard line on second down to get the Trojans within a point. Weaver kept the ball to himself with the game on the line on a quarterback keeper and pushed his way in to send the home crowd into a frenzy.
Weaver ended the game with 114 yards on the ground with two touchdowns and the game-winner on 22 carries. Ian Buffington added 87 yards rushing for the Trojans in a Tri-Valley League victory.
