BLOOMSBURG —
Southern Columbia's running game got the Tigers out of early trouble as they racked up 285 yards on the ground to escape Panther Stadium with a 32-20 victory to virtually clinched the team’s first Heartland Athletic Conference Division III title.
Bloomsburg (5-2, 3-2 HAC-III) took advantage of a fumble by quarterback Taylor Young to score the game’s first touchdown when Klingerman threw a 21-yard strike to John Klingerman midway through the opening quarter.
Later in the quarter Southern (7-0 overall, 4-0 HAC-III) took the lead for good on a two-yard run by Matt Lupold.
The Tigers added another rushing touchdown before the half on a two-yard run from Blake Marks to make the score 16-7.
And it was only until Young scored on a four-yard run early in the third quarter to make the score 23-7 that Southern started to get any kind of a comfortable lead in the game.
The touchdown was a result of the Tigers’ Joe Kleman intercepting a Klingerman pass. Southern intercepted Klingerman three times in the game.

Daily Item names 2012 high school football all-stars
SELINSGROVE - If the 2012 edition of The Daily Item All-Stars were not a fictional team, the quarterback would find a familiar downfield target.
