WILLIAMSPORT — The Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes are advancing in the District 4 Class AA tournament after getting a combined 35 points from Elijah Duran and Zack Tocyloski in Tuesday’s first-round victory over Williamson at the Magic Dome, 59-49.
Duran scored 19 points to lead Mount Carmel, which used a 16-4 second quarter to lead by eight points at the half.
Mount Carmel next plays Lewisburg in the quarterfinals this weekend at a site and time to be determined.
Central Mountain 62, Shikellamy 61
MILL HALL — A cold shooting third quarter by the Braves was all it took for the Wildcats to come away with the nonleague victory.
Shikellamy (12-10) was up 29-24 at the half, but Central Mountain (16-6) came back with a 21-point third period to take control of the game.
Austin Mowery scored 17 points and brothers C.J. and Ernie Tyler tallied 16 and 13 points, respectively, for the Braves. C.J. Tyler also had seven assists.
Cole Renninger totaled 40 points to lead the Wildcats.
Emmanuel Baptist 48, Northumberland Chr. 37
NORTHUMBERLAND — One more double-double by Alyssa Wesner couldn’t get the Warriors to win the season-ending nonleague matchup.
Wesner scored 14 points and she pulled down 12 rebounds for Northumberland Christian (17-11).
