WRESTLING
MIFFLINBURG — Win No. 10 in a row for Mifflinburg wasn't easy, as the Wildcats needed all the help they could get to pull out a 36-28 victory over Shamokin in a Heartland Athletic Conference Division I matchup Thursday.
There were two pins in the match for Mifflinburg (10-1 overall, 2-1 HAC-I), plus one technical fall, a major decision and a couple of forfeits.
David Sheesley (112) and Mark DeFord (215) had the pins, while Clark Wagner (119) had the technical fall and Zane Rowe (130) had a major decision.
Brandon Pesarchick (135) and Lee Supsic (152) each had pins for Shamokin (3-2, 2-2 HAC-I).
Selinsgrove 33, Jersey Shore 29
SELINSGROVE — The Seals won their second HAC match in a row behind Eric Eaton's decisive pin at 171 pounds.
Cody Zechman added a pin at 145, while Isaiah Shipman had a fall at 285 for Selinsgrove (2-2 overall and HAC-I).
Shikellamy 40, Williamsport 26
SUNBURY — A pin by Logan Koch at 152 and Zach Cooper's technical fall at 160 got the Braves off to a good start and they rode the momentum all the way to the HAC-I win.
Down the stretch, a pin by Tanner Fasold at 119 and a major decision by Matt Neff at 140 helped put the match away for Shikellamy (8-2, 4-0 HAC-I).
Milton 46, Midd-West 25
MILTON — Pat Shaw's pin at 160, the ninth bout of the day, gave the Black Panthers the points they needed to take the HAC-I win.
Getting the other pin for Milton (5-5 overall, 2-2 HAC-I) was Colton Showers (130). Garrett Hauck (135) added a technical fall and both Ryan Preisch (152) and Ryan Solomon (215) picked up major decisions.
John Heintzelman (285) had a pin for Midd-West (7-11, 1-3) and Nick Kratzer (145) had a major decision.
Lewisburg 48, Bloomsburg 21
LEWISBURG — After the Panthers opened the match with a couple of pins, the Green Dragons stormed back with wins in 10 of the next 12 bouts to take the HAC-II win.
Among the 10 wins for Lewisburg (7-2, 2-1) were pins from Jordan Danowsky (140), Torey Vansickle (145), Curt Schneider (152) and Nathaniel Brown (171).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Steel-High 72, Greenwood 31
STEELTON — The Wildcats were no match for the Rollers as the hosts had three players score in double figures to take the nonleague victory.
Autumn Pellman scored 19 points to lead Greenwood (10-3).
Marian Catholic 35, Lourdes Regional 25
TAMAQUA — Nikki Komara scored nine points to lead the Red Raiders, who fell in the Schuylkill League game.
Bloomsburg Chr. 28, Meadowbrook Chr. 14
MILTON — The Lions were doubled-up in the game after they were out-scored 16-4 in the second half.
Kari Seibert had 13 rebounds and Breanna Bittner pulled down eight for Meadowbrook Christian (4-4).
Watsontown Chr. 42, Hillside Christian 24
WATSONTOWN — Meg DeWire's game-high 28 points propelled the Crusaders to the victory. Watsontown Christian is 4-4.
BOYS BASKETBALL

MILTON — Ryan Torrey scored 19 points and Jason Miller almost had a triple-double as the Lions took the nonleague win.
Miller scored nine points and had eight rebounds and seven steals for Meadowbrook (9-0), which also got 12 points from Will Lynd.
Watsontown Chri. 48, Hillside Christian 27
WATSONTOWN — Dan Wohlschlegel scored 21 points and Barry Wohlschlegel added 10 as the Crusaders took the victory. Cody Bomberger added 10 points for Watsontown Christian.
BOYS SWIMMING
Bloomsburg 107, Danville 73
BLOOMSBURG — Zack Haney and Collin DeFacis were both double-event winners for the Ironmen, who fell in the HAC meet to the Panthers.
Haney won the 200 free (1:50.70) and DeFacis won the 50 free (24.55), and both swimmers helped the 200 free relay team win as well for Danville (4-2).
GIRLS SWIMMING
Danville 99, Bloomsburg 85
BLOOMSBURG — Stephanie DiFilippo had four wins, while Lexi Cole and Kelsey Williams had three wins apiece as the Ironmen edged the Panthers for the HAC victory.
Individually, DiFilippo took the 200 free (2:13.29) and the 500 free (6:06.86), and she also swam a leg to help lead the 200 free and 400 free relay teams to victories.
Cole won the 100 free and 100 back and Williams won the 200 IM and 100 fly, plus both swam on the first-place 400 free relay team for the Ironmen (4-2).

BELLEVILLE -- The East Juniata boys basketball program has been in existence since the school opened in 1955, but the 2012 team has done what those previous teams couldn't. On Saturday East Juniata crushed Belleville Mennonite in a nonleague contest 62-34 and in doing so the Tigers set the school record by winning their 17th game of the season.

SUNBURY — Tyler Pratt kept Shikellamy in the game in the third quarter Wednesday, scoring all seven of the Braves’ points. He then got some help in the fourth.

MIFFLINBURG -- Mifflinburg coach Dave Murray said the decision this season to seriously upgrade the schedule was made by the wrestlers. But facing the likes of Blair Academy (N.J.), ranked No. 1 in the nation, and Germantown Academy in the National High School Wrestling Coaches Association Festival in Brodheadsville earlier this month could certainly adversely affect the Wildcats' seeding for the District 4 Class AA Duals Tournament.

MANDATA -- With only a week left to qualify for the District 4 Dual Tournament, Line Mountain coach Mike Martz knew his own tournament Saturday could make or break the Eagles' chances. But the Eagles are breathing a little easier today, having improved from 4-2 to 8-2 with a 4-0 record in the five-team Line Mountain Duals Tournament.
