Six area players were named to the Pennsylvania All-State soccer team by the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association.
Selinsgrove’s David Aurand, Warrior Run’s Austin Bower, East Juniata’s Spencer Reinford and Shamokin goalie Jon Deitrick were all named to the boys team.
Warrior Run’s Taylor Landis and Danville’s Siobhan Bross were both named to the girls team.
It is the first all-state selections for all six players.
Aurand was one of the best players in District 4 this season, scoring 34 goals which broke Selinsgrove’s single-season record set by KC Mayer in 2005. Aurand’s 30 goals in the regular season were seven ahead of the next best scorer.
The senior also moved into third all-time on the Selinsgrove scoring list with 60 career goals.
Bower was a solid midfielder for the Defenders this season. The senior scored twice and had five assists, and he also helped create scoring opportunities alongside Elias George and Brett Powell to help Warrior Run end the regular season a perfect 18-0.
East Juniata’s Reinford had nearly as many goals in districts and states as he did all of the regular season. His six postseason goals also led the area. The tall senior was an extremely fast and talented weapon for the Tigers, creating numerous scoring chances and drawing defenders to open the East Juniata offense.
Reinford was also named to the Tri-Valley League All-Star team and was MVP of the league.
Deitrick was a solid goalie all season for Shamokin, as one of the top five in the area in saves (94) and making great stops all year. The Indians had an early exit in the District 4 Class A playoffs, losing to Midd-West 2-0 in the first round, but Deitrick recorded 18 saves in the loss and kept the Mustangs from scoring more than they did.
Landis was arguably the most talented girls soccer player in the area. The senior was always dangerous on the field, often drawing three defenders whenever she’d take a pass or take an incredible shot.
Landis was near the top of the scoring list with 21 goals, and she also assisted on nine. The senior is also a three-time HAC-II first-team All-Star selection. Landis ended her career fourth in scoring in Warrior Run history with 63 goals and third all-time in assists with 35.
Bross was a pivotal piece to Danville’s success this season. The senior midfielder had a great goal against Warrior Run in the Class AA playoffs to end the two-time defending state champion’s run. Bross recorded 11 goals for the Ironmen and was named a HAC-I first-team All-Star this season after being named second-team in 2011.
