LONG POND —
On a blustery and cold day which seemed more suited for football than auto racing, Mario Andretti wore a smile from ear-to-ear while sitting on pit road on Monday at the Pocono Raceway.
Andretti, a resident of Nazareth and a four-time Indy car champion, was on hand as the IZOD INDYCAR Series announced its return to the track in 2013 following a following a 23-year absence.
It was music to Andretti’s ears when he heard the rumors beginning to circulate about the possible return of Indy car racing to Pocono.
