BOYS BASKETBALL
MIFFLINBURG -- A seven-point lead after the first quarter quickly grew to 20 at the break as Mifflinburg ran away for a 65-45 victory over Montoursville in a Heartland Athletic Conference Division I game on Saturday.
Jim Sowers once again was the sparkplug behind the offensive attack for Mifflinburg (16-2, 9-1 HAC-I). Sowers had a game-high 22 points in addition to the nine rebounds he pulled down.
Also for the Wildcats, Zac Hoy had 11 points and six assists, Corey Murtha had 12 points and Kaleb Snyder chipped in four points and six rebounds.
"Snyder and Sowers both rebounded very well, we had 13 assisted baskets and we played well as a team," said Mifflinburg coach Eldon Hoy.
Ryan Hocker paced Montoursville with 15 points.

JERSEY SHORE -- Ben Barnhart scored 17 of his game-high 28 points in the first half as the Bulldogs got off to a hot start and rode their momentum to the HAC-I win.
Jersey Shore (9-9, 5-5 HAC-I) led 44-30 at halftime, and despite the best efforts of Dan Ryan the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half.
Ryan connected on three of his five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to keep Selinsgrove (9-10, 6-5) in the game, but the Seals couldn't keep up with Jersey Shore.
Ryan finished with 19 points, while Spencer Hotaling added 11 and Kyle Dreese chipped in 10 for the Seals.

Warrior Run 32
TURBOTVILLE -- Ian Stout and Kristian Klebon scored 11 points apiece as the Tigers took the HAC-II win.
A total of three players scored in double figures for Southern (10-8 overall) as Kurt Kessler added 10 points.
Todd Keiser led Warrior Run (1-17) with 12 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL

LEWISBURG -- On senior night, fourth-year player Jenny Meslener scored 10 points and collected 15 rebounds to lead the Green Dragons to the non-league win.
Emily Lesher added eight points, five assists and five blocks for Lewisburg (16-3). Fellow senior Sarah Campbell added six points for the Green Dragons.

ALMEDIA -- Heather Bolick's game-high 19 points lifted the Red Tornadoes to the Heartland Athletic Conference Division II win. Ranotta Ahrensfield added 14 points for Mount Carmel.
