TURBOTVILLE —
Warrior Run and Loyalsock had played each other once this year at Loyalsock on the Lancers new artificial turf and the Defenders knew how the Lancers played on their new surface.
So when Loyalsock came to Turbotville on Thursday afternoon, the Defenders spent the first few minutes of the game trying to get a feel for how Loyalsock would play on grass, and it didn’t take long for the Defenders to find out and act on it.
Masen Wagner dribbled the ball to within just a few yards of Loyalsock goalie Louis Comfort before taking a shot that ricocheted back into play. Warrior Run’s Chris Schaeffer was right there to get it, position himself and make a great shot between some Lancer defenders into the corner of the goal for the first score of the game.
Less than a minute later off a penalty kick by Alex Wehr, Warrior Run’s Chase Snyder found the same corner of the goal to put the Defenders ahead by two goals early and the momentum stayed with Warrior Run (15-0, 11-0 HAC-II) all game en route to the 5-0 HAC-II win.
