College basketball: Bloomsburg women defeat Chestnut Hill

BLOOMSBURG -- Colleen Kegerreis scored 15 points of her 24 points in the first half to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 77-49 win over Chestnut Hill College in the Patriot Inn Huskies Tip-off Classic opener on Saturday evening, in rookie head coach Bill Cleary's debut.

The Huskies took the lead early in the game at the 14:52 mark when Kelly Joyce, who scored all of her 11 points in the first half, began a 15-2 run over the Griffins with a layup and a 3-point shot. Kegerreis followed up with a three-point play, while Joyce hit another shot from behind the arc at the 8:47 mark. Bloomsburg would end the half with a 15 point lead at 37-22, answering back every time the Griffins scored.

In the first five minutes of the second half, Huskies went on an 8-0 run and did not look back. The Huskies would lead by as many as 33 points in the second half.

Freshman Kelsey Gallagher scored 14 points while Lauren Healy had nine points and 11 assists.

The Huskies play C.W. Post today at 4 p.m. on day two.
