WRESTLING
SELINSGROVE -- Despite making some adjustments to its lineup, Selinsgrove reeled off six pins in a row in the middleweights and heavyweights to take a 54-25 Heartland Athletic Conference Division I victory over Williamsport on Tuesday.
"We had a real nice team effort. We moved some kids around after we wrestled Williamsport in our tournament over the weekend," said Selinsgrove coach Todd Myers. "Our kids really came through and gave us a great effort."
Getting those six pins in a row for Selinsgrove (7-7 overall) were Trent Blair (152), Mike Ede (160), Eric Eaton (171), Ian Frost (189), Anthony Longer (215) and Spencer Myers (285).
Shikellamy 59, Midd-West 12
MIDDLEBURG -- For the second consecutive year the Braves swept their way to their second consecutive HAC-I title by crushing the Mustangs.
All told for Shikellamy (18-5, 7-0 HAC-I), the Braves got three pins, two technical falls and one major decision on the night.
The three pins were from Joe Zoda (119), Robert Easton (125) and Mike Barnhart (140), and they all came late in the match to put it away.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Williamsport 57, Selinsgrove 45
SELINSGROVE -- The Millionaires out-scored the Seals 33-20 in the second half to pull out the non-league victory.
Lauren Hackenberg scored 14 points and Brianna Brancato chipped in 13 to lead Selinsgrove (8-12).
Mifflinburg 55, Jersey Shore 35
JERSEY SHORE -- A near triple-double by Alexis Valentine, and a near double-double for her sister, Bryanna, the Wildcats helped the Wildcats take the HAC-I win.
Alexis Valentine had 20 points, 20 rebounds and seven blocks, while Bryanna Valentine had eight points and 11 rebounds for Mifflinburg (9-12, 7-6 HAC-I), which also got 10 points from Jackie Harriman and eight points and five steals from Emily Kunkel.
Midd-West 52, Halifax 29
HALIFAX -- With Christina DiBartolomeo boxed in by a box-and-1, Brittney Kuhns and Taylor Folk stepped up to lead the Mustangs to the non-league win.
Kuhns tallied 20 points and Folk added nine for Midd-West (10-10), which also got 15 from DiBartolomeo.
Danville 41, Lewisburg 37
DANVILLE -- The Ironmen won the game from the free throw line as they made 16 of their 22 chances, compared with 5-of-14 for the Green Dragons, to take the HAC-II win.
Rachael Herman scored 16 points and Brooke Pierson had 12 to lead Danville.
Jenny Meslener tallied a game-high 25 points to pace Lewisburg (17-5, 10-4 HAC-II).
Line Mountain 49, Upper Dauphin 35
MANDATA -- Paige Swineford tallied 13 points, and she had seven assists and five steals as the Eagles took the Tri-Valley League win.
Kasey Long added 19 points and five steals, while Mikhail Whitcomb had 11 points and Kelsey Lagerman had 10 rebounds for Line Mountain (14-7 overall).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Upper Dauphin 62, Newport 50
NEWPORT -- Scott Dreher scored 19 of his game-high 28 points in the second half, including 12 in the third quarter, as the Trojans took the Tri-Valley League win. Tyler Koppenhaver added 13 points for Upper Dauphin.
Loyalsock 87, Midd-West 54
LOYALSOCK TOWNSHIP -- Antoine Ellison-Love, Frankie Pagana and Sharif Jones scored 15 points apiece to lead the Lancers to the HAC-II victory.
Among the points Ellison-Love scored was the 1,000th of his career that he scored in the third quarter.
Dexter Herman led Midd-West with 17 points.

It's difficult to recall exactly how the sequence unfolded because it happened so darn fast. Shikellamy made a couple baskets, and the crowd began to stir. It was still anybody's game, and the Braves had some momentum late in the third quarter of a recent run with Danville.

H.S. boys basketball: Selinsgrove rallies to top Southern Columbia
CATAWISSA -- In a battle between two schools better known for their football programs, Monday's game between host Southern Columbia and Selinsgrove naturally featured plenty of physical play. After a combined 43 fouls and 55 free-throw attempts, the Seals finally pulled it out. Reserve guard Tyler Krebs made five foul shots in the final minute and a half in Selinsgrove's 54-53 victory.

High School Bowling: Kratzer, Hartranft take home Pro-Am titles
SUNBURY -- The name might have changed, but the results were the same. Now called the 13th annual Best Bowl/Strike Zone High School Pro-Am Scholarship Challenge, the two-day tournament was another success as it pitted some of the Valley's best young bowlers against each other in friendly competition.
