High school football: Seals dominate District 4 South squad

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT -- The only undefeated football team in Pennsylvania this season will be well represented in June when the annual District 4 North-South All-Star game is held at Rodney K. Morgans Stadium at South Williamsport High School.

Seven members of the 16-0 Class AAA state champion Selinsgrove Seals have been named to the first-team offense and the same number (some of them the same players) were chosen for the first-team defense.

The game is sponsored by the South Williamsport Lions Club, but the date has not yet been announced. The rosters were selected by the district coaches. Only seniors are eligible, according to PIAA rules, to participate, but several underclassmen were honored as well.

Representing the Seals on the first-team offense are senior quarterback Cory Briggs, junior running back Kyle Reinard, senior fullback Matt Wenrich, senior wide receiver Ryan Keiser, senior tackle Spencer Myers and senior center Jon Trego. Defensive first-teamers from Selinsgrove are Trego at noseguard, Myers at tackle, Wenrich at end, senior Dylan Elliot at outside linebacker; senior Bryant Trautman at inside linebacker; senior Cameron Benner at cornerback and Keiser at free safety.

The other area first-team selections are, on offense, senior running back Justin Pellowski, Mount Carmel; senior guard Ahmad Abuomar, Mount Carmel; senior specialist Jay Mathias, Lewisburg; and senior kicker Bryan Snyder, Southern Columbia; and, on defense, junior tackle Wes Tillet, Shamokin; senior end Josh Brosious, Shikellamy; and junior inside linebacker Dylan Dailey, Danville.

Rounding out the first team are, offense, Hughesville seniors Levi Oden, wide receiver; Chet Ritter, tackle; and Jonathan Hoot, guard; and, defense, Hughesville seniors Bryce Pardoe, outside linebacker and Oden, cornerback; and Bloomsburg sophomore quarterback Blake Rankin.

Several area players were also named to the second team and honorable mention. They are: second team offense, sophomore running back Tyrell Thomas, junior running back Jake Morton and senior tackle Brad Witcoskie, Southern Columbia; senior wide receiver Kaleb Snyder, Mifflinburg; senior tackle Trevor Demko, Mount Carmel; junior guard Mark Sangill, Shikellamy; Dailey, center, and junior Mikeal Owens-Wright, specialist, Danville; and junior kicker Spencer Hotaling, Selinsgrove; and defense, seniors Cody Fisher, nose guard, and Cody Raup, inside linebacker, Lewisburg; senior outside linebacker T.J. Hertzog, sophomore cornerback Tyler Pratt and senior free safety Tyson Bly, Shikellamy; junior outside linebacker Russell Heath, Danville; juniors Seth Lauver, inside linebacker, and Reinard, punter, Selinsgrove; and Pellowski, cornerback.

Also, honorable mention, offense, junior quarterback Jake Townsend, senior guard John Lamb and senior center Ian Van Wieren, Southern Columbia; senior fullback Chris Moore and junior wide receiver Mike Marciniak, Line Mountain; sophomore running back Austin Oberdorf, Warrior Run; and senior Jared Smith, tackle, and junior Robbie Gaines, kicker, Lewisburg; and defense, senior Mack Baker, noseguard, Danville; Abuomar, tackle; Demko, end; and senior T.J. Heromin, punter, Mount Carmel; junior Nathanial Brown, outside linebacker, and Mathias, free safety, Lewisburg; Moore, inside linebacker, Line Mountain; and senior Jared Hallick, cornerback, Southern Columbia.
