BOYS BASKETBALL

SUNBURY -- Omar Berry's 14 points lifted Shikellamy to a 38-36 victory over Berwick in the consolation game of the Holiday River Tournament on Wednesday at Shikellamy High School.

Berry and Adam Sees were named to the all-tournament team for Shikellamy (4-2). Sees scored seven points in the game for the Braves.

Rounding out the all-tournament team were Selinsgrove's Alex Lupolt, plus CD East's Aris Scott and Christian Devan and fellow teammate Aaron Devan was named the MVP.

Selinsgrove 31

SUNBURY -- A slow start doomed the Seals as they fell in the championship game of tournament.

Selinsgrove fell behind 24-9 after the first quarter and 43-20 at the half.

"CD East came out and made four of their seven 3-pointers early and we never recovered," said Seals coach Ray Moyer.

Alex Lupolt scored 15 points to lead Selinsgrove (3-2).

ALTOONA -- Kaleb Snyder was named the tournament hustler as he scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help lead the Wildcats to the championship victory.

Jim Sowers also pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with his nine points, while Corey Murtha scored 17 points to lead Mifflinburg (6-1).

Murtha was named to the all-tournament team and Zac Hoy, who had nine points in the game, was the tourney's MVP for the Wildcats.

Montoursville Tournament

MONTOURSVILLE -- The Green Dragons' late-game comeback fell just short as the Lancers held on to take the tournament championship.

Lewisburg (4-3) trailed by nine points at one point in the second half, but the Green Dragons cut their deficit to one and had possession of the ball with 11 seconds left.

However, Antoine Ellison-Love stole the ball and made a layup to put Loyalsock (5-0) up by three and Cam Cassels' desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer for Lewisburg failed.

Kyle Ranck scored 17 points and Steven Normington added 10 to lead the Green Dragons.

Perry County Tourn.

n Greenwood 64,

West Perry 57 (OT)

ELLIOTTSBURG -- Zach Fortenbaugh's 20 points led the way for the Wildcats as they took the tournament championship.

Jordann Ferguson and Grant Lesh added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Greenwood (6-1).

KOC Tournament

n Shamokin 43,

Lourdes Regional 38

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Tara Sabotchick scored 19 points and Amanda Cole added 10 as the Indians took the tournament championship at Shamokin High School.

Sabotchick and Cole were both named to the all-tournament team for Shamokin (5-1), as was Lourdes' (6-1) Carissa Zimmerman and Corrine Kenney plus Mount Carmel's Ranotta Ahrensfield and Southern Columbia's Cynthia Adams.

n Mount Carmel 50,

Southern Columbia 49

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Kim Andruscavage tallied 16 points and Ranotta Ahrensfield scored 12 as the Red Tornadoes came back and took the consolation game in the KOC Tournament.

Mount Carmel improves to 5-2 with the win.

Cynthia Adams scored 17 points and Jordan Marks had 16 to lead Southern, which falls to 3-3.

Bermudian Springs Tourn.

BERMUDIAN SPRINGS -- The Wildcats got 23 points from Autumn Pellman, but no other player had more than six points as they fell in the consolation game. Greenwood falls to 4-3.

n South Williamsport 59,

Lewisburg 58 (OT)

LEWISBURG -- Maria Kelleher's 3-pointer late in the game sent the contest into overtime for the Green Dragons, but Tierney Pfirman's layup with one second left in the extra period gave the Mounties the nonleague win.

Pfirman tallied a game-high 37 points to lead South Williamsport (5-1).

Kelleher finished with 10 points and Jenny Meslener scored 15 to lead Lewisburg (6-1).

WRESTLING

n Manheim Holiday Tourn.

MANHEIM -- Dominick Wolfe claimed the 189-pound title as Shikellamy finished fifth in the tournament with 142 points, the Braves' best showing and the most points they've scored in the tournament since 1990.

In his final bout, Wolfe decisioned Erie Prep's Markel Keys, 10-3.

Shikellamy had a total of three finalists in the tournament, but Joey Zoda (125) and Nick Bennick (215) claimed runner-up finishes.

Other top finishes for the Braves came from Landry Badman, third at 119; Jake Teisher, fourth at 130; Matt Neff, fourth at 135; Nolan Blackwell, fourth at 285; and Jake Witmer, fifth at 103.

n Springfield Duals

ERDENHEIM -- Danville steamrolled its way to the title with a 5-0 mark as 10 of its wrestlers also went undefeated in the tournament. The Ironmen beat Springfield Township in the championship final, 52-27.

Going 5-0 on the day for Danville were Steve Rosini (119), Nick Perez (125), Kody Getkin (130), Travis Bordner (135), Tommy Moyer (140), Garrett Llewellyn (160), Vladimir Hoegor (171) and Dylan Dailey (189).

Andy Hunt (215) and Zach Vanderslice (152) went 4-0 and 3-0, respectively, for the Ironmen.

n Newport Holiday Tourn.

NEWPORT -- Warrior Run's Jared Watson (125), Taylor Anspach (140), Elias Biddle (152) and Tyler Hain (160) all claimed individual titles to help the Defenders claim the team title with 207 points.

Hain, who pinned his way to the title, was named the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler.

Earning runner-up finishes for Warrior Run were Darren Heddings (103), Doug McCarty (112), Brad Hain (130), Chris Pfirman (135) and Merrill Fisher (215).

East Juniata had Sean Heggs (119) and Wade Truitt (189) finish second in the tournament.
