BOYS BASKETBALL
MANDATA -- With three players scoring in double figures, Line Mountain was able to outscore Juniata by six points in the fourth quarter to pull out a 51-46 Tri-Valley League victory over Juniata on Tuesday.
Line Mountain (2-1, 1-0 TVL) led 29-26 at the half, but the Eagles quickly fell behind after Juniata outscored them 11-7 in the third quarter.
Mike Marciniak scored 18 points and had eight rebounds to lead Line Mountain. Trae Wren and Cole Rickert chipped in with 17 and 11 points, respectively, for the Eagles.
Upper Dauphin 57, East Juniata 43
COCOLAMUS -- The Tigers went cold in the second and third quarters and the Trojans took advantage as they went on for the TVL victory.
Zach Markel scored 17 points and Britton Kosiser added 11 as Upper Dauphin (3-0, 1-0 TVL) outscored East Juniata (2-1, 0-1) 34-15 in the second and third quarters.
Tyler Dressler led the Tigers with 16 points.
Greenwood 70, Halifax 34
MILLERSTOWN -- Jordann Ferguson scored 17 points and Devean Kelly tallied 16 to lead the Wildcats to the TVL win.
Three other players came within a point or two of reaching double figures for Greenwood (2-1, 1-0 TVL), which outscored Halifax 33-14 in the first half.
Williams Valley 49, Lourdes Regional 41
COAL TOWNSHIP -- Led by Josh Grimm's 17 points, three players scored in double figures to lead the Vikings to the Schuylkill League win.
Mike Bastian had 15 points and six rebounds to lead Lourdes.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Warrior Run 65, Millville 30
TURBOTVILLE -- The Defenders limited the Quakers to only nine first-half points as they ran away for the Heartland Athletic Conference interdivisional win.
Caitlin Hollenbach led Warrior Run (3-0) with 15 points and Shawnee Lutcher added 13 for the Defenders, who also got 10 points from Kristen Keiser.
Mount Carmel 63, Midd-West 46
MIDDLEBURG -- After they jumped out to a 12-point lead after the first quarter, the Red Tornadoes scored in double figures in every quarter to take the HAC interdivisional win.
Kim Andruscavage scored 17 points and both Danielle Bernini and Ranotta Ahrensfield tallied 12 to lead Mount Carmel.
Brittney Kuhns scored 17 points to lead Midd-West (0-1).
Lewisburg 54, Milton 39
MILTON -- The Black Panthers didn't wake up until the fourth quarter, but by then it was too late as the Green Dragons ran away for the HAC cross-over win.
Lewisburg (3-0) outscored Milton (1-2) 44-20 through the first three quarters before the Black Panthers tallied 19 points in the fourth.
Emily Lesher led the Green Dragons with 19 points.
Mandy Metzger tallied 15 points to lead Milton.
Southern Columbia 62, Benton 16
BENTON -- Ali Oley had 17 points and Jordan Marks added 15 as the Tigers took the nonleague season-opening win.
Shamokin 68, Williamsport 57
WILLIAMSPORT -- A strong effort from the free-throw line carried the Indians to the nonleague win.
Tara Sabotchick led Shamokin, which was 22-for-35 from the charity stripe, with 25 points.
Sabotchick was 6-for-10 from the line, while Summer Reigle, who was 5-for-8 on free throws, finished with 11 points for the Indians.
WRESTLING
Shikellamy 36, Indian Valley 13
SUNBURY -- The Braves didn't get any pins in their season-opening match, but they did get three major decisions en route to the decisive victory.
Getting the major decisions for Shikellamy were Tanner Fasold (103), Jake Teisher (130) and Dominick Wolfe (189).
Beginning with Tony Waltz's 5-0 decision at 145, the Braves won six of the final seven bouts to pull away in the match.
BOYS SWIMMING
Danville 122, Mount Carmel 30
DANVILLE -- Zack Haney was a four-event winner while Matt Bason and Chris Brandt were both three-event winners as the Ironmen rolled to the season-opening Heartland Athletic Conference win.
Haney won the 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke and the 400 free relay.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Danville 133, Mount Carmel 50
DANVILLE -- Kelsey Williams, Lexi Cole and Sammi Jo Koons were all four-event winners as the Ironmen rolled to the season-opening HAC win.
Each swimmer had two individual wins as well as a pair of wins in the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay.

SELINSGROVE — With 11 losses, the Shikellamy girls basketball team is teetering on the brink of elimination from the District 4 Class AAA playoffs. And on Wednesday night, it looked like the Braves were going to go quietly into the offseason when Selinsgrove built a 14-point lead early in the third quarter.

It's difficult to recall exactly how the sequence unfolded because it happened so darn fast. Shikellamy made a couple baskets, and the crowd began to stir. It was still anybody's game, and the Braves had some momentum late in the third quarter of a recent run with Danville.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport suspended the three-time Tour champion after rejecting his claim that his positive test for clenbuterol was caused by eating contaminated meat on a 2010 Tour rest day.

H.S. boys basketball: Selinsgrove rallies to top Southern Columbia
CATAWISSA -- In a battle between two schools better known for their football programs, Monday's game between host Southern Columbia and Selinsgrove naturally featured plenty of physical play. After a combined 43 fouls and 55 free-throw attempts, the Seals finally pulled it out. Reserve guard Tyler Krebs made five foul shots in the final minute and a half in Selinsgrove's 54-53 victory.

High School Bowling: Kratzer, Hartranft take home Pro-Am titles
SUNBURY -- The name might have changed, but the results were the same. Now called the 13th annual Best Bowl/Strike Zone High School Pro-Am Scholarship Challenge, the two-day tournament was another success as it pitted some of the Valley's best young bowlers against each other in friendly competition.
