BOYS BASKETBALL
WINFIELD -- A three-point play the hard way with two seconds left in the game by Cody Conklin lifted Northumberland Christian to a 51-49 nonleague win over Grace Prep on Monday.
With his team down by one, Conklin received an inbounds lob, made the basket and was fouled. He made the ensuing free throw to clinch the game for Northumberland Christian (2-0).
Conklin finished with 19 points to lead the Warriors, while Bryan Gessner added 10 points.
Meadowbrook Chr. 52, Bloomsburg Christian 45
BLOOMSBURG -- Ryan Torrey's game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds propelled the Lions to the nonleague season-opening win.
William Lynd added 11 points for Meadowbrook.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Sunbury Christian 40, Juniata Mennonite 23
MIFFLINTOWN -- Rebecca Powlus' double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds gave the Eagles the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association win.
Molly Gutelius added seven points and nine rebounds for Sunbury Christian (6-0, 1-0 ACAA).
Northumberland Chr. 44, Grace Prep 29
WINFIELD -- Alyssa Wesner had a triple-double of 22 points, 15 rebounds and 10 steals to lead the Warriors to the nonleague win.
Shelby Derr added 14 points and Katey King had four points and 18 rebounds for Northumberland Christian (1-2).
