BOYS BASKETBALL
SELINSGROVE — The Mifflinburg Wildcats improved their playoffs chances while severely hurting Selinsgrove’s hopes by coming away with a 60-49 victory in Heartland-I action on Saturday.
Selinsgrove (5-10, 4-5 HAC-I) never got closer than seven points in the second half mainly because Mifflinburg (7-7, 3-6) converted on their foul shots down the stretch.
The Wildcats made 19 of their 28 free throws in the game, including 6 of 8 from James Zack in the fourth.
Zack finished with 22 points and Braden Lee had 14 for Mifflinburg.
David Aurand and Ethan Fadale both scored 12 points for Selinsgrove.
Danville 71, Milton 35
DANVILLE — A 25-point first quarter was too much for Milton to bounce back from as Danville rolled past the Black Panthers in a HAC-I conference game.
Zach Kozick led the Ironmen (12-2, 8-0) with 16 points while Bret Berg chipped in 13 and Austin Renz added 12.
Milton (10-4, 7-2) was led by Michael Jacobs 11 points.
Shikellamy 65, Midd-West 39
MIDDLEBURG — The Braves’ Austin Mowery knocked down four 3-pointers to help knock down the Mustangs in the HAC-I matchup.
Colton Keister led Midd-West (3-12, 0-9 HAC-I) with 14 points.
Shikellamy improves to 9-6, 7-2.
Montoursville 49, Warrior Run 38
MONTOURSVILLE — Zach Miller and Calen Foresman each scored in double figures, but Montoursville broke open the game in the second quarter.
Miller had 11 points to lead the Defenders (1-13, 0-9). Foresman added 10.
Greenwood 61, Juniata 28
MILLERSTOWN — Leading by just four points after one quarter of play, the Wildcats blew the game wide open by outscoring the Indians by 21 points in the second quarter to cruise to the Tri-Valley League win.
Tyler Fegley led Greenwood (16-2, 12-0 TVL) with 16 points and Ryan Kerstetter added 12 for the Wildcats.
Col. Mont. Vo-Tech. 50, Meadowbrook Chr. 43
BLOOMSBURG — Curtis Klodnicki’s double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds wasn’t enough as the Lions lost the nonleague matchup.
Dakota Pickett added 11 rebounds and Graham Feaster had 10 for Meadowbrook Christian (10-6).
Loyalsock 53, Southern Columbia 37
CATAWISSA — Matt Klock scored 19 points for the Tigers, who were outscored 28-15 in the second half of the HAC-II contest.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lewisburg 49, Bellefonte 40
LEWISBURG — Lois Lesher’s 11 points, seven rebounds and six blocks helped lift the Green Dragons to the nonleague win. Maria Kelleher led Lewisburg (11-4) with 15 points.
Mifflinburg 58, Line Mountain 52
MIFFLINBURG — Kayla Kline scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the second half to lead the Wildcats to the victory.
Sara Stauffer added 15 points, 10 rebounds and six steals for Mifflinburg.
Colleen Troutman led Line Mountain with 17 points and Sarah Lahr added 13 for the Eagles.
Athens 52, Danville 36
ATHENS — The Bulldogs pulled away for the nonleague win in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Ironmen, 21-7. Amber Renz paced Danville (12-3) with 19 points.

Shikellamy sweeps Mifflinburg
SELINSGROVE — The Braves got a 600 series from Jake Kratzer, Zack Williams and Randy Ripple to beat the Wildcats by more than 400 pins.
Kratzer’s 661 series was tops on the day, while Randy Ripple had the best game with a 256 for Shikellamy (14-2). Austin Miller led Mifflinburg (5-19) with a 676 series. For Shikellamy’s girls, Becka Klock rolled a 613 series behind a high game of 225.
Midd-West almost sweeps Central Columbia
SELINSGROVE — Midd-West’s girls, behind Jenna Yarger’s 234 high game and 631 series, beat Central 4-0. Beth Longer added a 212 game for the Mustangs. For the boys, Midd-West won 3-1. In the match Luke Zimmerman posted the second-best series this year with a 728 on games of 255-249-224.
WRESTLING
New Oxford Tournament
NEW OXFORD — Line Mountain had three placefinishers to take 11th place in the 22-team tournament with 74.5 points. Mechanicsburg won with 132.5 points.
For the Eagles, Cameron Newman finished third at 113 pounds by winning his final bout via a forfeit; Seth Lansberry was second at 138 after losing 2-1 to Hanover’s Ian Brown in the final; and Erik was third at 170 pounds when he decisioned CD East’s Austin Trephan, 4-2.
