HS roundup: Dressler shines on senior night

BOYS BASKETBALL

COCOLAMUS -- Tyler Dressler stepped out on senior night, scoring a career-high 29 points to lead East Juniata to a 59-42 Tri-Valley League victory over Line Mountain on Monday.

Dressler, a 6-foot-5 senior center, also pulled down 11 rebounds while frontcourt mate Tyler Erhard added 11 points and 10 rebounds for East Juniata (11-11, 3-4 TVL).

Mike Marciniak scored 15 points for Line Mountain (11-11 overall).

Shamokin 60, Selinsgrove 58

COAL TOWNSHIP -- The Seals scored more than the Indians in every quarter except the second, but the low-scoring period was their downfall as they fell in the Heartland Athletic Conference Division I game.

Shamokin (12-7 overall) outscored Selinsgrove (9-11) 15-6 in the second quarter. The Seals outscored the Indians 52-45 in the other three quarters.

Kieran Kelly scored 16 points and Brent Forbes had 14 to lead the Indians.

Ryan Keiser had 13 points and Dan Ryan and Justin Keiser had 12 apiece for the Seals.

Mifflinburg 68, Milton 36

MILTON -- The Wildcats jumped out to a 22-6 first-quarter lead before they cruised to the HAC-I win.

Jim Sowers tallied 16 points and Corey Murtha had 14 for Mifflinburg (18-2, 11-1 HAC-I).

Domair Anderson led Milton (2-19, 0-13) with 10 points.

Southern Columbia 66, Midd-West 56

CATAWISSA -- Kurt Kessler sank all six of his 3-pointers in the first half, including five in the first quarter, to get the Tigers off to a hot start en route to the HAC-II win.

Kessler finished with a game-high 27 points for Southern (12-9, 6-7 HAC-II), which also got 17 points from Jared Hallick.

Mike Iaderosa scored 23 points, while Eric Frederick and Dexter Herman scored 12 apiece to lead Midd-West (5-15, 4-13).

Lourdes Regional 54, Minersville 52

MINERSVILLE -- Mike Bastian had a game-high 22 points, while Matt Gilger had five points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals to lead the Red Raiders to the Schuylkill League win. Lourdes improves to 10-12 overall.

Athens at Danville

DANVILLE -- The non-league matchup between the Wildcats and the Ironmen was cancelled and will not be made up.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lewistown 51, Mifflinburg 43

LEWISTOWN -- Alexis Valentine matched the Panthers' Lauren Coleman in the scoring column with 19 points, but the Wildcats fell in the non-league matchup.

Lewistown went on for the win after it held Mifflinburg (8-12) to only eight first-half points.

Bryanna Valentine added 14 points for the Wildcats.

Southern Columbia 61, Montgomery 18

MONTGOMERY -- Three players in double figures, led by Jordan Marks' 18 points, propelled the Tigers to the convincing Heartland Athletic Conference crossover win.

Ali Oley added 13 points and Cynthia Adams had 10 for Southern.

Lourdes Regional 71, St. John Neumann 17

COAL TOWNSHIP -- Jen Kalinowski and Christina Perles scored 14 points apiece to lead the Red Raiders to the dominating non-league victory.

Kalinowski added six steals and four rebounds, while Perles pulled seven boards for Lourdes (18-3).

Williamsport at Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE -- The non-league matchup between the Millionaires and the Seals was postponed by weather and moved to today at the same time.
