High school roundup: Angstadt, Onesi lead Braves to third straight win

GIRLS BASKETBALL

SUNBURY -- Shikellamy junior guard Alexis Angstadt scored 17 points and handed out 10 assists in the Braves' 66-30 victory over Jersey Shore in a Heartland Athletic Conference Division I matchup Tuesday.

Lauren Onesi led Shikellamy (7-9, 6-3 HAC-I) with 25 points, and Cory Yerger chipped in 10 for the Braves, who have won three in a row.

 Montoursville 42, Selinsgrove 28

MONTOURSVILLE -- The Seals were held to single digits in each quarter by the Warriors as they fell in the HAC-I matchup.

"Montoursville played an outstanding game, and they never let us get in the game," said Selinsgrove coach Scott Kerstetter.

Selinsgrove, which was led by seven points from Brooke Greak, falls to 11-3, 5-2 in the conference.

 Danville 49, Midd-West 16

DANVILLE -- Rachael Herman had 12 points, and Maddy Moser added 10 for the Ironmen in the HAC-I win. Danville improves to 10-5, 6-2 in the conference.

 South Williamsport 48, Lewisburg 45

WILLIAMSPORT -- The Mounties outscored the Green Dragons 26-20 down the stretch to pull out the HAC-II win.

Maria Kelleher scored 16 points, Lois Lesher had 11 points and nine rebounds, while Chelsea Boyer added seven points, six rebounds and four assists for Lewisburg (6-7, 3-5 HAC-II).

 Central Columbia 54, Mifflinburg 34

MIFFLINBURG -- Amanda Murtin, Brooke Clarke and Abbey Crawford scored 10 points apiece for the Blue Jays in the HAC-II win. Becca Kratzer tallied 12 points for the Wildcats.

 Shamokin 44, Milton 34

MILTON -- Olivia Bonshock, Kelsey Yacko and Steph Pancher each scored 13 points in the Indians' HAC-I victory.

Linea Brouse tallied 11 points to lead Milton (4-11, 2-6 HAC-I).

Shamokin improves to 11-5, 7-1.

 East Juniata 33, Halifax 27

HALIFAX -- Despite shooting double what the Wildcats shot from the floor, the Tigers had to hold on for the Tri-Valley League victory. East Juniata improves to 8-7, 4-4 in league play. The Wildcats are 7-7, 3-4.

 Line Mountain 57, Millersburg 24

MANDATA -- Kasey Long's all-around game featured 25 points, 10 steals and nine rebounds as the Eagles took the TVL win. Mikhail Whitcomb added 20 points for Line Mountain (15-0 overall).

 Greenwood 53, Upper Dauphin 36

MILLERSTOWN -- Salene Shaffer, Maria Rumberger and Hattie Kuhns all scored in double figures to lead the Wildcats to the TVL win.

Kuhns also had 10 rebounds and six steals, while Shaffer added six assists for Greenwood (10-7, 5-2 TVL).

 Sunbury Christian 40, Juniata Mennonite 26

MIFFLINTOWN -- Abby Daddario had 18 points and six steals to help lead the Eagles to the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association win.

Carissa Erdman added 16 points and five rebounds for Sunbury Christian (15-4, 9-1 ACAA).

 Meadowbrook Chr. 29, Muhlenberg Christian 27

WILKES-BARRE -- The Lions had a little more left in the tank at the end of the game than their opponents as they held on to win the nonleague game at Luzerne County Community College. Mary Adams led Meadowbrook (12-4) with 10 points.

 Northumberland Chr. 33, Columbia County Chr. 32

LEWISBURG -- Alyssa Wesner's game-winning free throw late in the game punctuated the Warriors' win and a triple-double.

Wesner had a game-high 17 points, 16 rebounds and 11 blocked shots for Northumberland (14-6, 7-1), while Hannah Renno added 10 boards.

BOYS BASKETBALL

 Meadowbrook Chr. 42, Watsontown Christian 19

WATSONTOWN -- Kurtis Klodnicki scored nine points to lead a balanced Meadowbrook Christian attack.

Meadowbrook (13-3, 9-1 ACAA) rallied from a first-quarter deficit to outscore Watsontown 29-2 over the middle quarters.

 Juniata Mennonite 34, Sunbury Christian 17

MIFFLINTOWN -- The Eagles were held scoreless in the first quarter and had only four points in the first half as they fell in the ACAA game. Sunbury Christian moves to 9-10 overall.

 Northumberland Chr. 50, Columbia County Chr. 42

LEWISBURG --Gabriel Bahner tallied 14 points and Dan Severn added 11 more in the Warriors' ACAA win. Northumberland Christian improves to 16-5, 9-0 in the conference.

WRESTLING

 Mifflinburg 42, Jersey Shore 21

JERSEY SHORE -- Beginning with two pins and six total wins, the Wildcats jumped out to a 30-0 lead to earn the HAC-I victory and at least a share of the division title.

Aaron Shrawder (220) and Nazar Mironenko got the pins to get Mifflinburg rolling. Cole Walter (126) and Alan Miller (138) added technical falls for the Wildcats (12-2, 6-0 HAC-I).

 Central Mountain 56, Shikellamy 11

MILL HALL -- Decision wins from Matt Neff (138), Jake Witmer (113) and Tanner Fasold (120) were all the Braves could muster against the Wildcats in the Big Seven League match. Shikellamy falls to 1-6 overall.

 Tri-Valley 38, Line Mountain 36

HEGINS -- Blake Carl (113), Adam Kritzer (145) and Kenny Rothermel (220) had pins for the Eagles, but they weren't enough to result in the nonleague win over Tri-Valley. Line Mountain falls to 8-3, while Tri-Valley is 9-2.
