Joe Paterno not ready to name Penn State starting QB

STATE COLLEGE —

Coach Joe Paterno says he's still not ready to announce who will be name Penn State's starting quarterback.

Sophomores Kevin Newsome and Matt McGloin, and freshman Robert Bolden are listed atop the depth chart for the 19th-ranked Nittany Lions for the season opener Saturday against Youngstown State.

Paterno says he doesn't want to put too much pressure on his quarterbacks, and that he hopes to name his starter in the next day or so. He says he'll likely play a couple of the quaterbacks against Youngstown State.

JoePa said he also hasn't missed a single play in practice, and intends to spend the entire season coaching from the sideline. Paterno missed several appearances over the summer because of intestinal ailments.
