HS Roundup: Green Dragons pull away late

GIRLS BASKETBALL

LEWISBURG -- Jenny Meslener scored 10 of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to take over the game and lead Lewisburg to a 49-33 Heartland Athletic Conference Division II win on Monday.

Lewisburg (17-3, 10-2 HAC-II) led by just 32-29 after the third quarter, but the Green Dragons outscored Warrior Run (11-9, 4-8) 17-4 in the final period to pull away.

Meslener also had four assists and Jade Kerstetter added 12 points for Lewisburg.

Kristin Keiser scored 13 points for the Defenders.

Shikellamy 62, Montoursville 27

SUNBURY -- Kelly Bickel, Megan Slonaker and Dana Reed combined for 48 points as the Braves took the Heartland Athletic Conference Division I win on senior recognition night.

Bickel led the way with 24 points, while Emily Daddario added 10 rebounds and 10 steals to go along with her four points for Shikellamy (16-4, 11-1 HAC-I).

Greenwood 46, Belleville Mennonite 35

BELLEVILLE -- Autumn Stevens scored 20 points and Kiana Stevens had 10 as the Wildcats took the non-league victory. Greenwood improves to 14-4.

Upper Dauphin 78, Williams Valley 48

TOWER CITY -- Madison Miller and Macy Ryan combined for 14 points and 14 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Trojans fell in the non-league game. Upper Dauphin falls to 7-11 on the season.

Lourdes Regional 57, Schuylkill Haven 40

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN -- A 23-7 run by the Red Raiders in the second quarter resulted in a 21-point halftime lead and the Schuylkill League win.

Christina Perles had 12 points and seven rebounds, while Corrine Kenney had 10 points to lead Lourdes (15-3 overall).

Northumberland Chr. 39, Bloomsburg Christian 30

WINFIELD -- Another double-double from Alyssa Wesner lifted the Warriors to the non-league win.

Wesner had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Northumberland Christian (15-10), while Shelby Derr added 14 points and Lindsey Furman had seven points and nine steals for the Warriors.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Shamokin 51, Mount Carmel 48

COAL TOWNSHIP -- The Indians outscored the Red Tornadoes 16-14 in the fourth quarter to pull out the Heartland Athletic Conference inter-divisional matchup.

Devon Craft scored 14 points to lead Shamokin (10-7).

Mike Domaleski tallied 18 points and Seth Scicchitano had 13 to pace Mount Carmel (7-11).

Greenwood 92, Newport 33

MILLERSTOWN -- With Mike Hogan and Zach Fortenbaugh right behind him, Andrew Rhoads scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Wildcats to the Tri-Valley League victory.

Hogan scored 19 points and Fortenbaugh added 18 for Greenwood (18-2, 5-1 TVL).

Upper Dauphin 48, Line Mountain 36

MANDATA -- Ben Zigner connected on six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 18 points as the Trojans took the TVL win.

Zach Markel added 12 points for Upper Dauphin. Mike Marciniak led Line Mountain with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Northumberland Chr. 63, Bloomsburg Christian 42

WINFIELD -- Three of the Warriors' five starters scored in double figures to lead them to the win in the non-league matchup.

Josiah Strawser led the way with 21 points for Northumberland Christian (18-3). Cody Conklin and Sam Jablonski added 18 and 15 points, respectively, for the Warriors. Conklin also chipped in eight assists and six steals.

BOYS BOWLING

Selinsgrove 3, Midd-West 1

SELINSGROVE -- Both teams felled more than 3,000 pins in the match, but behind a 717 series from Brian Conrad the Seals pulled out the Heartland Athletic Conference win.

Conrad had games of 257 and 266 to lead Selinsgrove (22-6). Dylan Messimer led Midd-West (18-6) with a 663 series.

Selinsgrove 3, Midd-West 1

SELINSGROVE -- Four girls had at least a 535 series or higher as the Seals took the HAC-I victory.

Chelsea Wildt led Selinsgrove (18-10) with a 592 series and a high game of 224.

Danielle Goss had a 216 game and 594 series for Midd-West (17-7).
