MANDATA —
Jill Martz-Yisrael searched for the right words, thought about it a bit more, and finally shrugged.
“It’s a ’W,’” she said. “I don’t know if it’s explainable.”
She couldn’t explain how it happened, but Line Mountain’s coach went from laughing with her girls during the first timeout of Thursday’s district playoff field hockey game to letting them have it with both barrels in their second one.
Then, after standing up to Lewisburg’s relentless pressure for much of the second half, the Eagles played their best hockey of the game once they lost a player to a yellow card.
Unexplainable, indeed.
Bottom line is the second-seeded Eagles (15-4) advanced to the District 4 Class AA semifinals for the third consecutive year with a 2-0 win over No. 7 Lewisburg (11-8-1).
