LEWISBURG - Lewisburg’s Calvin Reif saw the play developing and knew that it was a key opportunity for the Green Dragons to make a move.
So the junior midfielder quickly ran to the ball and, as it bounced off a Selinsgrove player, took his shot and found the back of the net from just a handful of yards out.
The goal was huge for Lewisburg as it put the Green Dragons ahead of Selinsgrove for the first time and the Lewisburg lead held throughout the rest of the second half as Lewisburg defeated the Seals, 4-2, in a Heartland Athletic Conference Division I game at the Pawling Sports Complex to close out the regular season.
“That was huge,” Lewisburg senior forward Udoka Eze said of the second goal. “Mentally, it was really uplifting. The whole team feels it when we score a goal and we just carry that momentum and manifested it into a goal.”
The second goal was part of a three-goal rally in just a five minute span from Lewisburg.
